For your trial lesson wearing loose, lightweight clothing is ideal. A t-shirt and shorts down to the knee or tracksuit bottoms are good. If you decide to come on a regular basis, we provide an affordable martial arts gi (uniform) for you to wear
All jewellery must be removed (or taped over) and long hair should be tied back
Students normally pay a monthly subscription of £40/month; £50/month or £60/month depending on choice of classes.
We take students at all fitness levels and ages from 18+ years – from couch potatoes to superheroes:)
Regular training will improve both your physical and mental fitness along with endurance and flexibility. Your aerobic capacity and strength will also be improved.
Training regularly in martial arts will improve your fitness, coordination, flexibility and balance as well as your capacity to deal with aggression.
It is also very good for developing the kind of self-awareness and mental toughness that can lead to an increase in self-confidence.
We recommend coming along a minimum twice a week. This will ensure good technical progress as well as a gradual increase in fitness.
We strive to provide a safe training environment for all concerned. Most of us have to get up in the morning and go to work or look after the kids.
However, it is a martial art, and inevitably injuries and accidents do happen from time to time. These normally take the form of slight sprains and minor bruising.
All strikes and kicks are done with control – meaning that only the lightest of contact with the body is used. However, as the student’s experience increases, the efficacy of blocks and strikes are tested more robustly over time.
If we’ve learned anything in our years of teaching, it is that girls are just as tough as boys. Many are even tougher! Women are very welcome to join our club.
You can attend our ‘Women Only’ class, our ‘Mixed Gender’ classes, or both! – The choice is yours!
Ju-Jitsu is a great form of self-defence for the street. Most of the techniques don’t require strength (just knowledge) so are ideal for women’s self-defence
