2025 - Gathering of the Masters
The Shuren Bash 2025 - Gathering of the Masters once again brought together martial artists from across the United Kingdom and Ireland for an outstanding day of learning, friendship and mutual respect. Hosted by Shuren Ryu Martial Arts in partnership with the International Kenpo Jutsu Alliance (IKJA), the annual seminar continues to grow as one of the most welcoming open-style martial arts events in the UK calendar.
Members of Seishin Ju-Jitsu were proud to attend once again, joining martial artists from numerous clubs and associations to share knowledge, exchange ideas and experience different approaches to self-defence and traditional martial arts.
Regardless of style or rank, everyone trained together with the same goal - to become better martial artists.
Seminar Highlights

Exceptional Instruction
The event was once again led by Hanshi Keith Moughton of Shuren Ryu Martial Arts, whose vision has helped establish the Shuren Bash as one of the UK's premier open-style martial arts gatherings. His commitment to bringing together instructors from different systems continues to strengthen the martial arts community year after year.
The seminar also featured instruction from respected martial artists representing organisations throughout the UK and Ireland, including Master John Ward and Master Dessie McMenamin, alongside other senior instructors from the International Kenpo Jutsu Alliance. Their willingness to share decades of experience created an atmosphere of genuine collaboration rather than competition.
Cross-Style Martial Arts Training
Students enjoyed a varied programme incorporating principles from Kenpo Jutsu, Japanese Ju-Jitsu, Karate, close-quarter self-defence and modern combative systems. Each session demonstrated different solutions to common self-defence scenarios, allowing participants to broaden their technical understanding while appreciating the strengths of other martial arts.
For members of Seishin Ju-Jitsu, the Bash provided another excellent opportunity to learn from experienced instructors outside our own club, develop existing skills and build lasting friendships with martial artists from many different organisations.
Supporting Charity Through Martial Arts
Beyond the technical instruction, the Shuren Bash continues to demonstrate the true values of martial arts by supporting charitable causes. As in previous years, proceeds from the event were donated to charity, reflecting the principles of generosity, humility and service that lie at the heart of traditional martial arts. Every participant contributed not only to their own development but also to helping others within the wider community.
Another Outstanding Gathering
The 2025 Shuren Bash once again proved why it has earned such an excellent reputation among martial artists throughout the UK and Ireland. The combination of expert instruction, open-minded training, genuine friendship and charitable purpose makes it far more than just another seminar?it is a celebration of everything that traditional martial arts should represent.
