1st Dan Grading ? Sui & Carla, December 2023

Seishin Ju-Jitsu was extremely proud to celebrate a very special milestone in December 2023 as Sui and Carla successfully completed their 1st Dan Black Belt grading.

A 1st Dan grading is never just about demonstrating techniques. It represents years of commitment, regular training, discipline, perseverance and personal growth. Both Sui and Carla showed exactly what is expected from dedicated martial artists, approaching the grading with focus, determination and great spirit.

The examination covered a wide range of Japanese Ju-Jitsu skills, including throws, locks, escapes, groundwork, self-defence applications and syllabus knowledge from previous grades. Throughout the grading, both students demonstrated strong technical ability, excellent control, good movement and a clear understanding of the principles behind the art.

What stood out most was their attitude. Sui and Carla trained hard, supported one another, listened carefully to instruction and showed the respect and humility that are central to Ju-Jitsu. Their success was well earned and thoroughly deserved.

For the club, this was a proud moment. Seeing students progress from their early lessons through to Black Belt level is one of the greatest rewards for any instructor. Their achievement reflects not only their own hard work, but also the encouragement of their training partners, ukes, instructors, family and friends.
